Join Courage for Kids at Hands on DC
Join the Courage for Kids team at the Hands on D.C. annual Work-a-thon, which gives new beginnings and opportunities to students in the D.C. area. The event will take place on Saturday, April 30, 2011.
Hands on D.C. is a nonprofit organization founded in 1994 that organizes projects to improve the conditions of Washington, D.C. public schools. Over 2,000 volunteers are expected to attend the Work-a-thon in making a difference in more than 30 public schools. Not only does Hands on D.C. improve the conditions of schools, but it also raises funds to support local college scholarship programs and encourage greater community involvement in public schools.
Hands on D.C. is interested in attracting as many volunteers as possible! Volunteers will spend their day at different public schools and centers around D.C. painting, cleaning, and landscaping. Along with that, however, Hands on D.C. has a goal to raise $40,000 in donations to support local schools and students. The funds raised will help renovate the schools to create better learning environments for students. Courage for Kids is one of the volunteer teams participating at the Work-a-Thon.
